Volunteer representatives from the Friends of Kings Park and the Kings Park Guides will give you an authentic volunteer experience from their eyes.
The Botanic Gardens provide a world-class service to visitors; inspiring and educating people in local history and promoting native flora. In the year to date over 5.4 million people visited Bold Park and Kings Park and Botanic Garden. The Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority (BGPA) have five dedicated volunteer groups who support the core activities of Bold Park and Kings Park and Botanic Garden and contribute to ongoing park management and essential visitor services. With the combined total of 850 members, BGPA volunteers contributed an estimated 45,340 hours of service, being the equivalent of 23 full time employees. As there are so many different volunteer roles at the Botanic Gardens, you will hear from the Friends of Kings Park and the Kings Park Guides.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Volunteer representatives from the Friends of Kings Park and the Kings Park Guides will give you an authentic volunteer experience from their eyes. Pippa Moddie from the Friends of Kings Park will take you behind the scenes into the glass houses to talk about what the Growing Friends do with propagating and preparing for Friends of Kings Park Native Plant Sales. Pippa will explain what it is they do, the type of training they do our how their volunteer group structures works. Chris Olney from the Kings Park Guides will take you on a walk in the gardens and explain the role of a Volunteer Kings Park Guide. Talking about the 14 week training course and the Guiding community and structure including a visit to the Visitor Information Centre.

Time: 10:15 (departure from PCEC) - 16:15 (return to PCEC)
Delegates have the option to stay at Kings Park and make their own way back to their hotel
Inclusions: Includes morning tea and lunch and bus transport
Notes: All guests will need to wear comfortable clothing, enclosed footwear, hat and sunscreen as walking is involved.
